Day 54
Location: Breckenridge, CO
Reosrts: 27 out of 50

The town of Breckenridge hates RV people, which is why we’ve been staying in the much more RV friendly Frisco. How do we know they hate us? Oh, you can park in Breck, but there’s only one lot you can stay overnight in and it’s past-the-trailer-park far from downtown. And you have to get a permit. Which costs $5.00. And you can’t sleep or camp in your RV, because who would ever want to do that?IMG_5738Jeff, the founder of The Slanket and a 100DOW sponsor, came up from Denver to show us around the mountain. We dug up a couple Heavenly employee vouchers floating around the Mystery Machine, which are good at all Vail Resorts.

Like Keystone, Breckenridge has been busy making changes in the last few years. One of the best additions is the gondola that shoots right out of downtown Breck. There’s also a lovely, new lift to the top of Peak 8 which is a much easier solution than the T-Bar/hiking (it’s still there if you want to go that route). They have also cut a bunch of groomers into Peak 7.IMG_5828The gondola is a free ride to the base, no ticket required. It’s worth the ride just to hang out and enjoy some beers in the sun. Yep, it was that kind of day. No new snow. The trees and upper terrain were rock hard. Knees were beat up from some long days earlier in the week. Every once in a while, you’ve got to relax with an easy groomer day.IMG_5741 IMG_5766 IMG_5792 IMG_5799 IMG_5822 IMG_5827
