Day 84
Location: Aspen, CO
Resorts: 40 out of 50
It’s not every powder morning you see a dude in a dress dropping a sick line down a 48 degree bowl, but if you get to Aspen Highlands on closing day, you might get your chance.
The Highlands Bowl is the crown jewel of this local’s hill. With nine inches of the fluffy stuff and the sun peeking out, I wasn’t only the one who wanted to get to the top. Hundreds filled the single file ascent, not only to party at the top of the world, but to get one last shot at the best steeps in Aspen.
I found my best turns on the north side right where the wind starts to drift into the trees. Then a ride up the brand new Deep Temerity lift. I cheated on the second hike and caught the free snowcat that takes you a third of the way up. Another quad burning run and then I was off for some easy mid-mountain runs.
Apres-Ski Report:
Even in Aspen, you can still dig up happy hours deals like the ones found at Bad Billy’s. Order some delicious $2.50 sliders, tuna tacos, and cheap pitchers of beer.
