I’m always on the lookout for intriguing sleeping situations on Airbnb so when the listing for Dragonfly Gardens popped up in the center of Brasov in Romania, I immediately snagged it. Autumn has been unseasonably warm so I was happy to take advantage of the final days of fall to sleep outside — with some added comforts.

Glamping is just like camping except 1) someone else sets up the tent, 2) with power, 3) and a heater, 4) along with wifi, and 5) you sleep in a comfortable bed. So, you know, just like camping.

It did get cool at night, but I was cozy enough with the space heater and few shots of welcome pálinka from my absolutely lovely family that lives and run the place. In the morning, I helped myself to fresh apples from the tree next to my tent and relaxed in the sun on the small wooden porch of this backyard hideaway.

Dragonfly Gardens is in a quiet section of Brasov, so you need to take a bus (about 20 minutes) to get to the old town and the city center. There’s indoor bathrooms and showers along with a small kitchen. It truly is an oasis in the center of the city. 5 out 5 stars.
