Romania is littered with castles, fortresses, and citadels. Most seem to be hidden and/or unknown so it helps to roadtrip around with a local history expert. Once again, Robert from Hostel Transylvania (who showed me this amazing majestic castle and this amazing creepy fortress) led us to another historical wonder on the road to the Negrini Flea Market.

The Bologa Castle ruins sit just off the main road overlooking the village. There’s a steep farmer’s path that runs up to the remains of the fortress. If you’re into pictures of poorly maintained ruins and people you probably don’t know standing on really old stuff, then buckle up, because I took a bunch of pictures.
