At the end of every 100 Nights of Summer festival season, there’s a mad dash to the border before I blow my visa. I try to find a calm city, and then I collapse until I’m mentally ready to travel again. Last year it was Cluj for three straight months, while this fall I’m recuperating in Timișoara, the birthplace of the Romanian Revolution in 1989.
The westernmost city in Romania, Timișoara is also called the City of Roses and Parks. The weather here in September is absolutely perfect with bright, sunny days — ideal for lounging around the many parks around town. This is how I spend every afternoon, mostly reading, and stretching, and occasionally falling asleep.
